The register calls Credit Karma a bank with an e-money licence. It is neither a bank nor an e-money issuer. Credit Karma is a consumer credit comparison business founded in 2007 and bought by Intuit in December 2020 for about USD 7.1 billion. It shows people free credit scores and reports and makes its money when a visitor takes a credit card, personal loan, car refinancing or mortgage from a lender on the platform: in its own words, the bank or lender pays it. It operates in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, employs roughly 1,500 people, and offers nothing at all to a business: there is no business account, no merchant product and no company card.
