ANZ is one of Australia's big four banks, headquartered in Melbourne, with 42,698 employees and A$1.29 trillion in assets at its 2025 year end. It owns ANZ Bank New Zealand and completed the purchase of Suncorp Bank in 2024. Its institutional bank operates in close to 30 markets, including more than 10 in Asia plus London and New York, and has been ranked first in Australian trade finance for 11 consecutive years. Small businesses get the Business Essentials account with no monthly fee and $2.50 staff-assisted transactions. In December 2025 the Federal Court ordered ANZ to pay A$250 million in penalties to ASIC, and APRA raised its capital add-on to A$1 billion over risk culture.
