The register lists Affirm as a bank. It is not one. Affirm Holdings is a San Francisco point-of-sale lender: it offers a shopper instalment plans at checkout, from four interest-free payments to 36-month terms, and charges the retailer a commission of up to 12.5%. Loans are originated through partner banks and the Affirm Money Account is held at Cross River Bank, insured by the FDIC up to USD 250,000. In January 2026 Affirm applied to set up Affirm Bank, an industrial loan company in Nevada, which would be its first charter. For the year to 30 June 2026 it reported USD 4.26 billion of revenue, USD 15.79 billion of total assets, 27.8 million active consumers and USD 50.2 billion of payment volume.
